Got an extra 50 cents? You need it for the NYC Ferry starting on Monday.
The city’s Economic Development Corporation board voted late last month to advance a proposal to bring the cost of a one-way ferry ride from $4.50 to $5. The rate change starts Oct. 19.
Fare hikes also impact the cost of a 10-day trip, which rises from $29 to $30. The ferry’s unlimited two-day ticket option, which becomes permanent after being introduced as a pilot in 2025, will remain priced at $15.
In addition, the price of a discount ticket will increase by 5 cents to $1.50. Eligibility is also extended to NYC middle school students.
The EDC board last pushed through a fare hike in 2024. Then, the price of a one-way ride jumped from $4 to $4.50.
Back in June, the board announced new ridership records for the ferry system.
