Miranda and Eisa Davis co-wrote the new musical, which reimagines the 1979 action film, premiering at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in early March.

Warriors, come out to play! Initial casting has been set for the world premiere of Warriors on Broadway, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis’s new musical starting performances March 9 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Opening night is April 8.

The Warriors Broadway cast includes Jaci Calderon as Fox, Aneesa Folds as Cleon, Amber Gray as Ajax, Julia Harriman as Mercy, Sasha Hutchings as Cowgirl, Gizel Jiménez as Rembrandt, Jasmine Cephas Jones as Swan, Kenita R. Miller as Cochise, Sasha Allen as Cyrus, Casey Likes as Luther, and Donald Webber Jr. as Masai.

All but Calderon, Allen, Likes, and Webber reprise the roles they voiced on the show’s 2024 cast album; Likes appeared on the album in a different role. Complete Broadway casting will be announced at a later date.

Warriors is adapted from the 1979 action movie, itself based on Sol Yurick’s novel, about a fictional Coney Island gang escaping to their home turf after being framed for a respected gang leader’s murder. Miranda and Davis’s stage adaptation gender-flips the story, turning the central Warriors into an all-female gang.

Co-directors Jenny Koons and Andy Blankenbuehler (who also choreographs) lead a creative team that also includes scenic designer David Korins; costume designer Dede Ayite; lighting designer Natasha Katz; sound designer Jason Crystal; projection designer Hana S. Kim; wig, hair, and makeup designer Nikiya Mathis; fight director Drew Leary; music supervisor Kurt Crowley; orchestrators Kurt Crowley, Mike Elizondo, and Scott Wasserman; and production stage manager Cody Renard Richard.
