STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Parts of New York City, including Staten Island, are under a coastal flood statement Wednesday.
New York City Emergency Management issued the statement late Tuesday evening, saying that an inundation of one half foot above ground level could lead to minor flooding of roads and properties near the shoreline.
The warning was first made Tuesday evening, and is set to run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, according to the agency.
Anyone who encounters flood water is advised to not attempt to drive through flooded roadways.
The flood statement is tied to an offshore nor’easter, which is also causing parts of Long Island to be under a flood advisory.
In addition to the flooding, Staten Island will see winds up to 20 mph Wednesday, with gusts possibly reaching 30 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
