The Port of Oswego sits at the southeastern point of Lake Ontario, at the crossroads of the North American shipping market with Canada. It’s the first U.S. port of call and deepwater port on the Great Lakes from the St. Lawrence Seaway, and it’s accessible from any international port in the world. In other words, the Port has a front-row seat to the U.S. trade war with Canada.

But according to Tom Drumm, the Port’s executive director and CEO, the tariff tit-for-tat with our northern neighbor is creating a “full-blown crisis across the entire Great Lakes Economy.”

Drumm, who recently wrote a column on this issue for Syracuse.com, joined Capital Tonight’s Susan Arbetter to discuss the issue.
