HARLEM (WABC) — Two bicyclists were hospitalized, including one man in critical condition, after a head-on collision in a bike lane on Central Park North in Harlem early Thursday.

The crash happened outside 35 Central Park North. Investigators said a 27-year-old man was riding westbound in an eastbound bike lane when he collided head-on with a 20-year-old cyclist who was traveling eastbound in the bike lane.

Both riders were thrown from their bicycles and ejected onto the pavement. They were taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital for treatment.

The 27-year-old suffered severe head trauma and was listed in critical condition. The 20-year-old sustained head and body injuries and was listed in stable condition.

Video from the scene appears to show one bicycle was an e-bike and the other a Citi Bike.
