The Winter Lantern Festival will illuminate Queens once again this holiday season, bringing some festive family fun to Queens County Farm in Glen Oaks.

The festival kicks off on Thursday, Nov. 19, lighting up the night every Thursday through Sunday from 5:30-10 p.m. until Dec. 17. It will then switch to a daily schedule through Jan. 3.

The outdoor night journey, produced by Kaleido Arts and Entertainment, includes a variety of food options, as well as shopping and live entertainment, that is suitable for families, couples and anyone who loves the holiday season.

Ticket prices start at $18, and children under 3 are free. Advance reservation is recommended due to hourly entry capacity limits. Tickets are available here.

The annual Winter Lantern Festival brings art, tradition and culture together through hundreds of dazzling handcrafted Chinese lanterns made from small pieces of Chinese silk cloth and steel wire.

Each lantern is a unique, handmade artisan piece that holds a story of its own with depictions of Chinese legends and lore, as well as the beauty of nature.

The Winter Lantern Festival will create a wonderland of light and color, illuminating hundreds of lanterns using modern LED lights — a perfect outing for visitors of all ages to celebrate the holiday season, snap some pictures and make memories.

“The holidays in New York are a magical time,” said Travis Noyes, chief marketing officer of Kaleido Arts and Entertainment. “We set out to create an outing that the whole family can truly enjoy, bringing culture, magic and something never-before-seen to the city. This illuminated night walk is sure to tell a story while visitors create memories during the most wonderful time of the year.”

David Hughs, executive director of Queens County Farm Museum, said the festival builds on the museum’s mission to celebrate the history and diversity of the borough.

“Queens Farm is a place where history, culture and community come together, and the Winter Lantern Festival brings that spirit to life in a spectacular way,” Hughs said. “We’re delighted to welcome families and friends to experience the artistry of these handcrafted lanterns and enjoy our historic farm in a whole new light this holiday season.”

The festival is part of a series of lantern festivals that have welcomed visitors across the country, including Jamestown, VA and Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden in Staten Island this season.
