Foley Hoag is pleased to announce that Partner and Senior Policy Director Basil Seggos has been appointed to the Lake Placid–New York City Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games Exploratory Committee, a state-led initiative convened by New York Governor Kathy Hochul to evaluate the feasibility of hosting the 2042 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in New York.
Seggos will serve on the Committee’s Strategic Advisors Subcommittee, a group of leaders from government, business, tourism, transportation, conservation, and community organizations charged with helping assess the opportunities, challenges, and long-term considerations associated with a potential future Games.
The nearly 90-member committee held its first full meeting in New York City this month and will spend the next year examining whether a modern, regionally coordinated Winter Games concept connecting Lake Placid and New York City could be feasible under current International Olympic Committee hosting requirements. The effort will evaluate existing infrastructure, operational capabilities, financial and governance models, and the potential economic and community benefits of hosting a future Winter Games.
