A New Jersey-focused infrastructure television program has received its first New York Emmy Award nomination for a segment about the state’s roads and the workers who build and maintain them.

“Method to the Madness: NJ Roads Are Not Boring,” a segment of “Our Infrastructure Matters,” was nominated in the Public Affairs – Single Program category. The program is produced by ELEC825 and focuses on infrastructure projects, industries and workers.

The nomination was recognized at the New York Emmy Awards ceremony Oct. 10. The program did not win the award, according to the announcement.

“Receiving our first New York Emmy nomination is an incredible honor and a testament to the hard work and creativity of everyone involved in producing Our Infrastructure Matters,” Executive Producer Michael Makarski said. “Our mission has always been to shine a spotlight on the skilled men and women who build, maintain and modernize the infrastructure we depend on every day. This recognition reinforces the importance of telling their stories.”

The nominated segment takes viewers behind the scenes of New Jersey’s transportation infrastructure, focusing on the engineering, labor and other work involved in building and maintaining the state’s roadway network. It features firsthand perspectives on the work and the union workforce responsible for it.

“This nomination is particularly meaningful because infrastructure is something most people take for granted,” ELEC825 Director Mark Longo said. “The goal of the program is to bring these projects to life, showcase the extraordinary work happening across New Jersey and give viewers a greater appreciation for the union workforce that quietly makes it all possible.”

The New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presents the awards, which recognize television and digital media production in the region.

“Our Infrastructure Matters” airs on News12 NJ+ on Saturdays and Sundays and is also available online, according to the announcement.
