Close out Halloween weekend with anime, gaming and cosplay at the first-ever Astoria Anime Fest. The free, family-friendly festival is taking over 31st Avenue Open Streets (between 34th and 35th St) on November 1 from 1 to 5pm. The Queens gathering will feature local artists and vendors, games, crafts, community activities and special guests, including Queens Public Library and NYC-based Japanese abstract calligrapher Taisan Tanaka, who will lead an interactive calligraphy experience. Costumes are encouraged, so come dressed as your favorite anime character or just be ready to geek out.

RSVPs are encouraged.
