MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) — The frenzy for Apple’s new foldable iPhone debut has caused long lines at Apple stores in New York City.

On Friday morning, lines wrapped around the front of the flagship store on Fifth Avenue as excited fans waited to get their hands on the company’s first foldable device, the iPhone Duo.

And there were reports that people started lining up at 4 p.m. Thursday around the corner of the Apple store in SoHo.

Apple describes the phone as having a breakthrough foldable design.

It has the largest display ever on iPhone and it will also be the thinnest iPhone ever.

The phone opens to a 7.6 inch display that is 80% larger than the newest iPhone 18 Pro. It will let people use an Apple Pencil on the phone, a capability previously reserved to iPad users.

Apple also promises the phone has an advanced camera and new IOS operating system experience.

The Duo also lets users split the screen to use two different apps on the device, or two windows the same website for things like comparison shopping.

The phone will run you anywhere from $1,900, to up to $3,000, depending on storage capacity selection.
