STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Richmond University Medical Center will open its Suite Dreams Center for Sleep & Neurodiagnostic Studies on Monday, bringing expanded sleep disorder testing and neurological diagnostics to Staten Island residents.
The new center, at 355 Bard Ave. in West Brighton, features four bedroom-style rooms, with three dedicated to sleep studies and one for video electroencephalogram monitoring. VEEG testing records brain wave activity on video to help diagnose seizures and other neurological conditions.
The facility serves both adult and pediatric patients and includes its own nursing station. The center is designed with privacy considerations, sectioned off to reduce disruptions during patient evaluations.
Keith Diaz, chief of pulmonary medicine at Richmond University Medical Center, oversees the facility.
Sleep disorders affect millions of Americans and can contribute to health issues ranging from cardiovascular disease to cognitive decline. The new center aims to provide patients with accurate diagnoses and care close to home.
