Local shock rock musician Miss Cherry Delight is celebrating the release of her second album with a huge show at House of Yes next week.
On Nov. 4, Delight will release “Advice For Ashes,” a 14-track album produced over the course of seven years in collaboration with Vision Video, Nite, Ashley Bad and Marieke Bresseleers. The name of the album is a dedication to Delight’s friend and colleague Frankie Maddox Rex, lead singer of the band The FMs, who passed away in 2022.
To celebrate the release, Delight is throwing a larger-than-life show that night, which happens to coincide with her 40th birthday party.
“I worked so hard on this album for many years and I figured the best way for me to enter this new decade is to put on a full Scorpio ball for all of NYC to attend and to birth my creation into the world on the 40th anniversary of my existence, Nov. 4, 1986,” said Delight.
The night will feature Delight with her band, Justin Ethan Mathews, Mike Forzano, Cinque Ubangi Kemp, and Michael Butterly, playing through “Advice For Ashes” in its entirety. The album features songs ranging from protecting Coney Island and true crime tales related to the “Hello Kitty” murder case to tributes to burlesque star Pearls Daily and a love song to famous folk artist Joe Coleman and his wife, Whitney Ward.
Special guest vocalists for the night include Laura Lee Anderson from the Broadway cast of “Masquerade” and John Wlaysewski, lead singer of the band “Late Cambrian.” The performance will also feature never-before-seen music videos by directors Dylan Mars Greenberg and Adam Ninyo.
The night’s lineup will also include sideshow and burlesque performances by Kita St Cyr, Gin Minsky, Echo Thorn, Pearls Daily, Anna Monoxide, Faux Pas Le Fae, Aurora North, and legendary Wild West Arts champion Chris McDaniel, as well as musical performances by Monsterwh_re and Starfox And The Fleet. The whole show will be emceed by Poxxa Ponnyou.
“I’m beyond thrilled to be hosting at House of Yes for the first time, especially for something this big! Miss Cherry Delight has a marvelous show in store for the Advice For Ashes release, and while I can’t wait to host, I’m especially excited to watch the show itself! Has anybody this green ever hosted a show at House of Yes before?” said Ponnyou.
“This is the largest scale production I’ve ever taken on and there won’t be another concert like this one. It’s filled with big theatrical surprises that can only really be accomplished inside House of Yes. For anyone who has come to my show “Cherry Hellodies,” this will be a version of that combined with all my new original songs performed for the first time ever,” said Delight.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the show kicking off at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $30 for general admission with VIP options available. This is a 21+ show. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit shotgun.live/en/events/mcd.
House of Yes is located at 2 Wyckoff Ave., Brooklyn.
