STATEN ISLAND, NY — Staten Island is taking part in one of New York City’s most festive traditions.

The Gingerbread NYC: The Great Borough Bake-Off is now on view at the Museum of the City of New York through Jan. 19, 2026.

The annual holiday exhibition, now in its fourth year, invites bakers from across the five boroughs to create edible masterpieces.

“Gingerbread NYC: The Great Borough Bake-Off is more than a festive display—it’s a joyful showcase of creativity, community pride, and edible design,” said Jerry Gallagher, the chief operating officer. “With entries from across the city and a wide range of styles and inspirations, the show celebrates what makes New York, New York.”

This year’s theme, “Iconic New York,” challenged participants to reimagine buildings, symbols, and places that capture the spirit of their neighborhoods in gingerbread.

The exhibition features dozens of edible tributes to the city, from the Statue of Liberty to Brooklyn brownstones, but Staten Island’s contributions underscore the borough’s rich history and waterfront heritage.

Filiz Cihan Cemberci crafted a gingerbread version of the historic Conference House, the 18th-century landmark in Tottenville known for its Revolutionary War peace talks. Loretta Bricchi Lee recreated the Staten Island Range Lighthouse, a towering maritime beacon that has guided ships through the Kill Van Kull since 1912.

Lee’s lighthouse earned top honors for Staten Island, winning Best Borough Spirit in the competition.

Visitors can view the gingerbread creations at the Museum of the City of New York, located at 1220 Fifth Ave.

The show runs through Jan. 19, and guests can vote for a “People’s Choice” winner during the exhibition.

For families looking for holiday fun, the museum will host a festive day on Saturday, Dec. 6, complete with gingerbread cookie decorating and photos with Santa. For more details, visit mcny.org.
