Queens Domain KeyArtQueens Domain KeyArtQueens Domain – out now on PC and console

Getting shipwrecked on a mysterious island is rarely the start of a relaxing holiday, particularly when finding your missing father means battling your way through more than 100 different types of enemies.

Queen’s Domain is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, with the Xbox version priced at £16.74.

Developed by Freshly Baked Games LLC and published by Future Friends Games, this retro-fantasy action RPG drops you onto the shores of the Isle of Neasied. There’s a family mystery to solve, a dangerous island to explore and, rather helpfully, a legendary sword that can actually help you fly. That’s certainly one way to make an entrance.

An Island Full Of Secrets And Sharp Things

Your adventure begins after washing up on Neasied, where the search for your father quickly becomes an exploration of an interconnected world filled with hidden locations, monsters and powerful bosses.

Combat is built around a traditional stamina system, with charge attacks, weapon-specific special moves and a collection of secondary throwing weapons adding variety to encounters. There’s a sizeable arsenal to discover, too, with more than 50 melee weapons available to find, equip and upgrade.

Your Sword Has A Few Tricks

The Legendary Holy Sword Endu isn’t just there for slicing through monsters. It can also be used to launch yourself across gaps and reach otherwise inaccessible platforms. Upgrades allow you to travel further, making it an important part of both exploration and uncovering the island’s secrets.

You’ll also earn experience to improve your character, while eating food provides additional stat boosts. With more than 20 types of throwing weapons and over 100 enemies, mini-bosses and bosses to encounter, there’s plenty to experiment with as you progress.

A Retro Adventure With Plenty Of Mileage

Queen’s Domain promises dozens of hours of exploration, combining its old-school fantasy aesthetic with action RPG progression and a world designed to reward curiosity. Whether you’re hunting down another weapon, discovering a hidden route or preparing for a particularly troublesome boss, there’s always another reason to venture further into Neasied.

Available on the Xbox Store (as well as other storefronts), with the Xbox version priced at £16.74, this looks like an appealing proposition for anyone who enjoys classic fantasy adventures with a modern emphasis on exploration and combat.

Finding your father might be the original objective, but with an entire island to investigate and a rather useful flying sword in your possession, there’s every chance you’ll get distracted along the way.
