The Brooklyn bar owner who became Internet famous last week after matching wits with Conan O’Brien got her own “Subway Takes” episode.
Confessions operator Debbie Shields’ chance encounter with O’Brien while the funnyman was taping an episode of “Subway Takes with Kareem Rahma” had comedy fans begging for more of the Bed-Stuy businesswoman. On Monday, that’s what they got.
She used her big break to get a few more laughs and help her customers understand when it’s time to go home.
“Last call means last call, people. Get the f–k outta my bar!” Shields jokes with show host Kareem Rahma as the pair rode the subway together.
Rahma suggests she play the 1998 Semisonic song “Closing Time” to get people moving. When at first Shields doesn’t seem able to place that tune, he begins singing.
“Please don’t switch careers, honey,” the bar operator wisecracks.
Shields also shared that she doesn’t need to carry a backpack on the subway because of her big bosom.
“I can carry a fifth of liquor in these suckers — we’re going to the damn party!” she tells her jaw-dropped interviewer.
O’Brien said after his chance encounter with Shields that he’d consider doing a show with her. Shields told the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation that she’s been in contact with him and Rahma about future collaborations.
Confessions Bar hosts a Friday night comedy show that Shields emcees.
