STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Maker Park Radio, the community-based station known for showcasing Staten Island’s diverse music and arts scene, announced it will hold its first on-air membership drive this weekend.
The three-day event, called “Amp Up!”, will run Nov. 14–16 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and feature special guests, giveaways and exclusive premieres.
The station, now in its ninth year, has grown into a hub for local artists, DJs and music lovers, broadcasting shows that span nearly every genre.
Program Director and co-founder Kristin Wallace said the membership drive will highlight the breadth of the station’s talent. “We have thirty five of our DJs doing special one hour sets all weekend long,” Wallace said.
“A few of our special guests include Brian ‘Q’ Quinn from the TV show ‘Impractical Jokers,’ Vince Clarke from bands Depeche Mode and Erasure, and Vernon Reed from the band Living Colour who have all hosted radio shows here.”

Maker Park Radio also operates SONIQLAB, a program offering free and low-cost workshops in audio and video skills, and produces family-friendly concerts in Maker Park, including its well-known Punk Rock Mini Golf installation.
Co-founder and longtime volunteer DJ Tom Ferrie said the fundraising format marks a new chapter for the station.
“We never did a membership drive before as we always hosted the record fair at Flagship Brewery as our fundraiser,” Ferrie said. “But we have an opportunity to raise funds with the Diamond Matching Grant, and we do love an excuse to come to the station and hang with the many volunteer DJs and radio hosts here.
“We all have one thing in common, a love of music and a love for the station.”
Listeners can tune in to the membership-drive broadcasts at MPR.nyc or through the station’s free mobile app.
