Brooklynites share their sadness
In the comments, customers responded to the news with happy memories from the restaurant.
One user wrote, “I am so sad. Colonie will always be my most favorite restaurant ever. Sticky date and mushroom pate will forever be on my taste buds and in my heart. My baby shower was hosted here and my son is now 14. We love you all.”
“Countless happy memories with family and friends. The tastiest meals ever-who knew celery salad was actually delicious? And that cool hand cuke always hit the spot. The coveted tables by the window. Pandemic meals and bottles of wine to go. Love you guys. Thanks for the beautiful memories. Bravo!” another said.
And one more shared, “Your restaurant was the scene of a most important date with me and my husband @urf4 [heart emoji] He was visiting me and we were staying with a friend in Brooklyn.
“On a Saturday night we took a stroll & couldn’t get into a restaurant across the street but somehow we got in to yours! We were ushered back to the chef’s table and enjoyed a most epic meal together. We still tell the story, to this day, of how we walked in to one of the best restaurants we’ve ever been to, and had a glorious meal. You will forever be in our hearts and part of our love story. We are saddened by the news of you closing.”
A former worker said, “Congrats on an amazing run. I learned the most in my 25 years in hospitality at @colonienyc – an institution! You will be so missed.”
