Unionized IT Workers employed at CAMBA, Incorporated are on Strike to demand fair wages, dignity and respect for the vital work they do. As the digital backbone of one of New York City’s largest non-profits, CAMBA’s IT Staff make it possible for thousands of low-income New Yorkers to access housing, education and legal support. Yet, CAMBA’s management is refusing to negotiate in good faith – committing multiple Unfair Labor Practices (ULPs) by stonewalling over mandatory bargaining topics and retaliating against Workers for standing with their Union. On November 5th, Workers were forced to walk out after CAMBA rejected modest, common-sense proposals: Living wages for Administrative Assistants, annual cost-of-living increases and a fair multi-year contract. CAMBA’s refusal to lift up its Front-Line Staff is even more shameful given its executive excess. In 2024, the non-profit’s CEO Valerie Barton-Richardson reportedly took home a staggering $51,700 every two weeks – more than an IT department admin assistant earned the entire year. The small-but-mighty CAMBA IT Workers Union is on indefinite Strike until they reach a fair deal.
