A man was stabbed during a dispute on the Upper West Side Friday night, according to police.

The NYPD says officers were called to West 66th Street shortly after 8 p.m., where they found a 48-year-old man with a stab wound to his back. The altercation unfolded outside 56 West 66th Street, the address of the First Battery Armory.

The victim declined medical attention at the scene. The motive behind the confrontation remains unclear, and police have not yet determined what sparked the argument.

AM New York was first to report the incident, which police officials confirmed with ILTUWS.

Investigators are now searching for the individual who fled the scene. Police describe the suspect as a man dressed entirely in black—a winter jacket, cargo pants, and boots—who ran east toward Central Park West.

The case remains under investigation.
