NEW YORK (PIX11) — Winter weather has arrived in the New York City area to kick off the week.
While the daytime temperature reached 45 degrees, forecasts noted that wind gusts made the outdoors feel closer to 32 degrees.
Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to 34 degrees; however, it will feel more like mid-20s.
A Code Blue has been issued for New York City until 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
Shelters will be available system-wide. If you see anyone at risk, including those living on the street, contact 311, and an outreach team will respond to the location.

The FDNY is also warning New Yorkers to follow safety protocols if using space heaters in their home to avoid fires. Space heaters should be plugged directly into a wall outlet and kept at least three feet away from combustibles.
Turn off the space heater when you leave a room or go to sleep.
