Staten Island residents can expect a cool Tuesday with increasing clouds, followed by a chance of light rain overnight. The National Weather Service forecasts temperatures reaching the mid to upper 40s today before precipitation moves in late tonight.
According to the weather service, a weak low pressure system will pass south of the area late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, bringing light precipitation to coastal areas including Staten Island. While most of the borough will likely see light rain, the precipitation is expected to be minimal with less than a tenth of an inch forecasted. As noted by AccuWeather, a few wet snowflakes may mix in with this precipitation late Tuesday into early Wednesday. Overnight temperatures will range from the upper 30s to lower 40s.
The system will move quickly offshore by daybreak Wednesday, with any lingering precipitation ending by mid-morning. Wednesday afternoon will see abundant sunshine return with temperatures in the upper 40s. The weather service indicates that dry conditions will prevail through Thursday, which will feature temperatures similar to Wednesday.
Looking ahead, a frontal system will impact the region Friday into Saturday as low pressure passes north of the area. A warm front will be near the region on Friday, followed by a cold front on Saturday. High pressure is expected to return for the second half of the weekend, bringing dry conditions through the first part of next week.
Temperatures throughout the extended forecast will remain close to normal for mid-November, generally in the lower to middle 50s degrees. Overnight lows will primarily be in the 30s, though coastal areas of Staten Island may stay in the low 40s.
