A North Country man was stabbed on Monday after he tried to stop a robbery at a popular local store.New York State Police said Dylan Blake, 25, of Plattsburgh attacked a person who tried to stop him after he walked out of Runnings on Centre Drive with a cart full of items without paying. The victim, who was shopping at the store, noticed Blake leaving without the merchandise and notified an employee. However, employees are not permitted to chase suspected shoplifters due to company policy, so the victim decided to try to stop Blake on his own, police said.The victim, who was not named in the release, chased Blake on foot and caught up to him, leading to a fight. A second person saw the two fighting and tried to help, according to police. That’s when Blake allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the first person in the leg before running away.The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at CVPH, police said. The second bystander was not injured.Blake was arrested on Tuesday following an overnight search. He was charged with robbery and was held until a court appearance, where he did not enter a plea. He is due back in court on Nov. 25.State police said Blake is a New York State parolee.Police thanked the two people who tried to stop Blake, but reminded the public not to approach or try to stop those suspected of a crime to prevent injuries.
