A $1 million Mega Millions prize sold nearly a year ago in Valley Stream, Long Island, is about to expire, New York Lottery officials warned Monday, according to the New York Daily News.
The winning ticket matched all five numbers but not the Mega Ball in the Dec. 13, 2024 drawing. It was purchased at Cold Cut Express on Dubois Ave. in Valley Stream. The numbers were 36, 43, 52, 58, 65 and Mega Ball 16.
Winners have one year to claim their prize. If no one steps forward by Dec. 13, the money will return to the lottery pool. So far, “no one has claimed the prize,” a representative from the New York State Gaming Commission told The New York Daily News.
The ticket was one of four second-prize winners that night, alongside tickets sold in California, Massachusetts, and Vermont, according to the outlet.
Lottery officials are urging players to check old tickets. “Felt like there’s been something missing this year?” the agency posted on Facebook. “Make sure it’s not that you’re the Mega Millions winner whose ticket is about to expire.”
