A teenager was hospitalized Wednesday after he was struck by a car while walking to a high school in Union County, authorities said.

The 15-year-old student was hit shortly after 7 a.m. at Pearl and South streets near Elizabeth High School, a city spokesperson said.

The accident was described as “a low-speed strike” that occurred as the car was turning, the spokesperson said.

The teenager was not seriously hurt, but reported feeling dizzy. He was taken to University Hospital in Newark “as a precaution,” the spokesperson said.

The driver was not injured, officials said. No charges have been filed as of Wednesday morning.
