Queens Of The Stone Age vocalist/guitarist Josh Homme appears to have intentionally drawn his own blood onstage last night (November 18th) while playing the 51st season closing performance of ‘Austin City Limits‘. That set took place at The Moody Theater in Austin, TX and saw Homme run a meat cleaver along his neck mid-song, with his blood beginning to flow afterwards. You can briefly see the moment that apparently caused the injury in the footage below.

It would appear the incident was intentional, as he also performed a similar stunt at a recent show, at which he also suffered a cut in roughly the same place. Last night’s cut took place during a performance of “Straight Jacket Fitting“, seemingly theatrically playing into the song’s lyrical nature. While not a grievous injury by any means, the blood from the wound was noticeably visible down his chest by the end of the set.

The mild injury didn’t slow Homme down, as the finished out the rest of the set without incident. That 17-song performance is scheduled to air as hour-long episode on PBS in early 2026. Homme and co. will be back onstage tonight in Austin at the Bass Concert Hall. They’re then set to wind down their latest U.S. tour with a November 21st show at the Saenger Theatre in New Orleans, LA.
