On the New York State Thruway nearly 40 people were arrested last week.
What is Operation Bear Cave?
There are a lot of illegal immigrants that have caused a lot of accidents on some of the major roadways. Some of the officials have noted that the accidents are because the immigrants, who don’t speak English, have not properly learned how to drive in America.
OPERATION: Bear Cave was underway in New York State to find 37 people who were arrested.
United States Border Patrol along with other agencies arrested 37 illegal immigrants within 3 days during the sting. The entire operation was done along the 90 in New York State. Of them, 30 of them were arrested, but had a valid drivers license from all over the country–from Florida to California. Once they were arrested they were turned over to the United States ICE. Those 30 people were driving commercial vehicles. According to Spectrum News, Acting Acting Buffalo Sector Chief Patrol Agent James D’Amato:
Drivers who are not fluent or with little to no ability to speak or read English pose a serious risk on our roadways, especially when operating large vehicles that require a high level of skill and understanding of traffic laws. The ongoing major accidents nationwide involving such drivers highlight the critical need for enforcement and vigilance to protect public safety.”
