THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — A Bronx mom is accused of abandoning her newborn son in front of an apartment building on Wednesday afternoon, police said Thursday.
Authorities found the baby wrapped in a blanket in a bag in front of 689 East 223rd St. at around 12:11 p.m., according to the NYPD. The boy was conscious and alert and taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The child’s mother, Claudette Tinnin, 28, was arrested Wednesday evening and charged with reckless endangerment, abandonment of a child, and acting in a manner injurious to a child, police said.
The woman lives a block from where she allegedly left the newborn, according to the NYPD.
Her arraignment was pending on Thursday.
