STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Staten Island residents can expect increasing clouds Friday with rain developing overnight.

The National Weather Service forecasts dry conditions during the day Friday with temperatures reaching the low to mid-50s degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will likely begin after midnight Friday and continue into Saturday morning, primarily affecting the southern half of the forecast area, including Staten Island. Precipitation amounts are expected to remain below a quarter inch, with no flooding concerns anticipated. The rain should taper off by mid-morning Saturday, with clearing skies for the remainder of the day.

“High temperatures for Friday and Saturday will be near normal in the range of 50 to 55 degrees,” the National Weather Service reports. Winds will remain light throughout Friday, becoming westerly and northwesterly Friday night into Saturday morning, but staying below 10 mph.

Saturday afternoon will see a return to dry conditions as high pressure builds back into the region. Sunday will continue the fair weather pattern with slightly cooler temperatures than Saturday.

Looking ahead to next week, Monday will bring seasonably cool and dry conditions before a more significant weather system approaches. Rain is forecast for late Tuesday into Tuesday night, with chances continuing into Wednesday, though confidence in Wednesday’s precipitation is lower.

For Thanksgiving Day, the forecast shows promising signs for dry conditions, as weather models indicate the mid-week storm system will move through quickly, leaving seasonably cool temperatures for the holiday.
