CLAY, N.Y. (WSTM) – A battle is brewing in central New York.
That’s where leaders in Onondaga County are continuing a pressure campaign to kick a 91-year-old woman out of her home.
The home sits on county-owned land.
Officials in one New York county are pressuring a 91-year-old to leave her home to clear the way for a semiconductor facility.
Azalia King had previously reached an agreement with the county to allow her to live in her house on that tract of land until her death.
But the county is losing patience.
County officials are trying to greenlight the construction of a semiconductor facility on the property by attempting to seize her home through eminent domain.
A public hearing was held Thursday for discussions on the possible eviction.
Community residents turned out to support King, who is a widow.
The county says it has made an offer to resolve the problem that King and other family members are considering.
A decision could be made in the coming days.
