The Manhattan High boys’ soccer team had five players recognized on the 2025 All-Centennial League teams, honoring a young but improving squad that leaned heavily on underclassmen this fall.

Junior Colby Taylor earned second team All-League honors. His consistency and leadership were key pieces of Manhattan’s development as the year progressed.

Freshman Mateo Sanchez was also named second team All-League, capping a breakout varsity debut. Sanchez showed maturity beyond his age, helping spark Manhattan’s attack throughout the second half of the season.

Two seniors — Skylard Buffington and Ian Wassom — along with sophomore Giovanni Espinoza, earned honorable mention recognition. Buffington and Wassom closed out their MHS careers by serving as steady leaders for a roster loaded with underclassmen. Espinoza became an important member of the team’s young core.

The honors reflect a team that showed steady growth under head coach Mike Sanchez, highlighted by late-season wins over Wichita Northwest and Wichita-Trinity Academy. With Taylor, Sanchez, Espinoza and a large group of underclassmen returning next fall, Manhattan expects to continue its upward trajectory in 2026.
