Sebastian Guenzatti signed with the New York Cosmos on Friday.
Here are some of his career highlights:
Began pro career with Huracán FC in his native Montevideo, scoring once during the second half of the 2012-13 Segunda División season.
Signed with the Cosmos in summer 2013 and scored his first goal for the club in a 1-0 win over Minnesota United FC on Sept. 14, 2013.
Started and played 86 minutes in Soccer Bowl 2013 as the Cosmos claimed their sixth league championship with a 1-0 win over the host Atlanta Silverbacks.
Started and played 93 minutes (he was substituted in stoppage time) against the Ottawa Fury in Soccer Bowl 2015. Drew the foul that led to a second-half red card for Ottawa. The Cosmos won their seventh title with a 3-2 win at Hofstra University.
Scored the Cosmos’ second goal in 3-2, Round-of-16 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup loss to the New England Revolution on June 29, 2016. He missed Soccer Bowl 2016 with a knee injury.
Named captain of the Tampa Bay Rowdies ahead of the 2019 USL Championship season.
Set Rowdies single-season scoring records with 19 goals in 2019 and 22 goals in 2021. Guenzatti was runner-up in the USL Championship golden boot race in 2021, and tied for third in 2019.
Named to the USL Championship All-League First Team in 2021. Named to Second Team in 2019.
Led the Rowdies to the 2021 USL Championship Players’ Shield and the Eastern Conference crown. The Rowdies lost the ensuing USL Championship Final, 3-1, to Orange County SC. Tampa Bay also won the Eastern Conference in 2020, but the Final was canceled.
Became the Rowdies’ all-time leading scorer with 61 goals on Oct. 8, 2022 after netting twice against visiting Loudoun United. Guenzatti would finish with 65 career goals for Tampa Bay.
Led Indy Eleven in 2023 scoring with 11 goals.
