WASHINGTON (TNDD) — The House on Friday voted 285-98 to condemn socialism the day New York City mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani visits the White House.
The resolution was introduced by Florida GOP Rep. Maria Salazar, and it laid out a list of the failures of the economic system, according to Fox News.
Two Democrats voted present while 86 of them voted with Republicans to condemn the economic system.
Mamdani is expected to visit with President Donald Trump on Friday. The soon-to-be mayor said he wanted to meet with Trump before taking office.
“My team reached out to the White House to set up this meeting because I will work with anyone to make life more affordable for the more than eight and a half million people who call this city home,” Mamdani told reporters earlier this week.
“I have many disagreements with the president, and I believe that we should be relentless and pursue all avenues and all meetings that could make our city affordable for every single New Yorker,” he continued.
Trump announced he was meeting with Mamdani on TRUTH Social.
“Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran “Kwame” Mamdani, has asked for a meeting,” he said earlier this week. “We have agreed that this meeting will take place at the Oval Office on Friday, November 21st. Further details to follow!”
