The New York Giants (2-4) head out to the Mile High City to face the Denver Broncos (4-2) this Sunday afternoon in Week 7.
There’s a lot of optimism surrounding the Giants these days, but they are in for a tough match against a staunch Broncos defense that ranks second overall in the NFL this season.
Here are five storylines we are following this weekend.
Can the Giants keep the momentum going?
Since they made the switch at quarterback from Russell Wilson to Jaxson Dart, the Giants’ offense has looked more versatile and energetic. Youth can do that. Big Blue is 2-1 since the change, and their one loss was a very preventable one in New Orleans, a game in which they beat themselves more than anything else. A victory in this game would improve them to 3-4 on the season, their best record after seven games since 2022, when they finished 9-7-1 and made the playoffs.

The rookie duo is flying high, and they aren’t concerned about the Giants’ most recent history of misery and losing. All they know is that they are bringing swagger and production to the offense, and the only people who have been able to stop them thus far are themselves. There’ll be a lot of noise in Denver for this game, and it remains to be seen if their naivete can block it all out.
Denver pass rush is on a historic pace
The Borncos lead the NFL with 30 sacks after six games. They are on pace for 85 sacks this season, which would easily surpass the NFL single-season record of 72 set by the mighty 1985 Chicago Bears. Led by linebackers Nik Bonitto, who has a league-leading 8.0 sacks, and Jonathan Cooper (last week’s AFC Defensive Player of the Week), the Giants’ offensive line is in for its biggest challenge yet.
Giants are “big game hunting” for a wide receiver
With Malik Nabers (ACL) out for the season and with two other wide receivers on the injury report in Darius Slayton and Jalin Hyatt, the Giants are very thin these days. Wan’Dale Robinson has picked up some of the slack, but there’s not much else in the way of experience behind him. The Giants are rumored to be in the market for a quality veteran wideout before the NFL trading deadline on November 4. They apparently aren’t looking for a rental, either. Any trade is expected to be for a player whom they can use this season and beyond.
The secondary is finally coming together
Benching Deonte Banks could prove to be the move that finally gets this Giants’ secondary right. Let’s face it, they gave the former first-round pick the benefit of every doubt, and he did not take advantage. Cor’Dale Flott has won the No. 2 cornerback job and is flourishing. Combine that with free agents Paulson Adebo and Jevon Holland finally rounding into place, and things are settling down in the Giants’ secondary. Slot corner Dru Phillips is having a solid sophomore campaign, and safety Tyler Nubin appears to be slowly getting back to normal as well.
