NEW YORK — A New York City woman was struck and killed by a solar panel during the nor’easter storm on Oct. 13.
That’s according to a report from CBS News. The report noted that, according to the Department of Buildings, a solar panel from a carport flew about 20 feet through the air before it struck the 76-year-old woman. She was taken to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Peak wind gusts were unofficially calculated around 42 mph in Brooklyn.
Governor Kathy Hochul declared a State of Emergency on Sunday for Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Queens, Richmond, Suffolk and Westchester Counties as the coastal storm brushed the eastern United States.
The State of Emergency is scheduled to expire at 6 p.m. on Monday.
