NEW PALTZ, N.Y. — Both drivers suffered injuries in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of North Putt Corners Road and Main Street, state police said Wednesday.

At about 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, a 2017 Dodge driven by Beatrice A. Onyango, 41, of Poughkeepsie, was southbound on North Putt Corners Road in the left-turn-only lane, approaching the intersection of Main Street. At the same time, a 2019 Lexus, driven by Ryan Neal Squires, 46, of Wallkill, was northbound on South Putt Corners Road approaching the same intersection, police said.

Police believe Onyango attempted a left turn onto Main Street and failed to yield the right of way to Squires as the Lexus proceeded straight through the intersection. “As a result, the two vehicles collided,” police said.

Onyango’s vehicle was disabled and came to rest in the middle of the intersection, police said. Neal’s vehicle continued north before coming to a stop on the right shoulder about 500 feet north of the intersection, police said.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie for evaluation and treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

No tickets were reported by police.
