NEW YORK (PIX11) – Gusty winds are expected on Thanksgiving in New York City, according to PIX11 meteorologists.

Before the holiday, rain showers will drench the tri-state area on Tuesday and Wednesday. PIX11 meteorologists forecasted that there could be some delays at airports, but any rain that falls does not look to be a big deal.

Will a snowstorm hit NY, NJ on Thanksgiving? What to know

Then, colder air rushes in on Thursday, causing temperatures to drop to the 40s. Gusts between 20 to 30 mph are possible, which will make it feel much chillier, according to PIX11 meteorologists.

That begs the question – will balloons still be able to fly during the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?

Balloons don’t fly if sustained winds exceed 23 mph, with gusts more than 34 mph. PIX11 meteorologists said that it doesn’t appear that conditions will surpass those limits, meaning balloons should still be able to fly – although likely much closer to the ground.

Chilly temperatures will stay in the tri-state area through Black Friday, with highs only reaching the mid-40s.
