A small village on Long Island has long been considered a hidden gem of New York, and is now ranked the wealthiest small town in the state.
Muttontown, with a population of less than 3,500, was deemed the most prosperous small town in a recent analysis conducted by Go Banking Rates.
The study used property prices and median incomes and reviewed only communities with 500 to 1,500 households.
The company found that Muttontown residents, on average, had a median household income of $247,589 and resided in properties worth around $2.2 million.
Despite the tiny town earning the top rank in wealth, it had the lowest livability score amongst all the cities on the list, with a rating of 56.
Livability scores are drawn from the site AreaVibes, which is an algorithm that combines various factors, including local amenities, cost of living, crime rates, education, and others.
Among the tiny population are big-name celebrities like Grammy Award-winning artist Alicia Keys.
The affluent neighborhood is about 31 miles east of Manhattan.

One of the town’s more exclusive offerings is the Muttontown Club, a country club with golf, fitness areas, and pools all centered around the pristine manor.
The top seven most expensive places to live in the state of New York are all located on Long Island, according to a previous study done by Go Banking Rates.
Of those seven towns, four were located in Nassau County, which includes Muttontown.
The other three areas were all located in Suffolk County.

Another analysis from the company found that Scarsdale, a tiny town in Westchester County, was the wealthiest suburb in the US.
Aside from New York, its sister state to the west, New Jersey has its wealthiest town, even closer to Manhattan than Muttontown.
Glen Ridge is only about 15 miles from the Big Apple and has a high livability score of 88.
The northeastern town has a population of 13,471 residents with a median household income of $248,016.
While Glen Ridge and Muttontown boast similar incomes, Jersey’s wealthiest town’s average home costs practically half as much at $1,132,974.
