The New York State Police are investigating a fatal structure in the village of West Winfield, according to a statement.
At around 6:02 a.m. on Nov, 25, troopers responded to 160 Burrows Road in the village of West Winfield in Herkimer County for a reported structure fire.
Shortly after arrival and during firefighting efforts to extinguish the flames, personnel observed one occupant deceased inside of the residence.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased.

Police say the investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is pending, however, a preliminary investigation does not indicate foul play.
The New York State Police were assisted on scene by State Fire, West Winfield EMS/Fire Department, Bridgewater Fire Department, Cedarville Fire Department, and Herkimer County Emergency Management.
The investigation remains ongoing.
