PROSPECT HEIGHTS — THIS THANKSGIVING WEEKEND, THE DIOCESE OF BROOKLYN IS PREMIERING A SPECIAL PROGRAM ON IMMIGRANTS and their contributions to life in the borough.

DeSales Media’s Net TV presents a Currents News special, “Belief Beyond Borders: The Diocese of Immigrants Story,” airing Thursday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. with an encore presentation on Friday, Nov. 28 also at 7 p.m.

“Belief Beyond Borders” chronicles the lives of three Brooklynites and a Queens resident from different parts of the world who have built new lives and contribute to society here in Brooklyn. It features William Shahzad, a Pakistani parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Windsor Terrace, who, among other volunteer activities, helped establish the first Urdu Mass in Brooklyn; Christopher Chasteau, a Grenadian parishioner at St. Matthew Church, who feeds hundreds of families each month in Crown Heights through the Group of Hope; and Olena Rogalska, a Ukrainian immigrant, parishioner at Guardian Angel Church in Coney Island and full-time pattern maker for designer Yves Saint Laurent.

Christine Persichette, who anchors Currents News, says the documentary “is not an immigration debate. It’s your city’s story, your faith story, told through the lives of the parishioners who carry it every day.”
