Two firefighters were injured in a fire at a home at 4234 Carpenter Ave. on Tuesday.

FDNY responded to the fire at 12:13pm, and it took two hours before the fire was placed under control.

“We had fire on the basement and the first floor, which quickly extended to the second floor and caused the collapse of the second floor,” said Deputy Chief Chris Reginella.

The Department of Buildings confirmed that the second floor of the Wakefield home collapsed.

Two firefighters and two neighbors suffered minor injuries.

Two nearby homes, 4232 and 4236 Carpenter Ave. have minor fire damage, but the DOB said there are no concerns to the homes structure.

“When I stuck my head out on the terrace, I was met with fire and smoke. So it was very scary,” said a neighbor at 4236 Carpenter Ave.

Officials say 106 fire and EMS personal responded to the two-alarm fire.
