Everything is bigger in Texas and that includes some outlandish trade rumors.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Friday he offered the Jets former star defensive end Micah Parsons and a first-round pick for Quinnen Williams during training camp.
“A one and Parsons for Williams,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. “I thought that much of Williams.”
This appears to be a bit of an exaggeration, though, for a myriad of reasons, namely that he claimed the opposite earlier this year in an interview with ESPN Radio.
Jones previously said that he wanted to acquire Williams and picks from the Jets for Parsons, a deal that makes much more sense than the reverse.

For starters, the Cowboys only needed one first-round pick to land Williams. The idea that Williams would have needed Parsons and a first-rounder before the season seems a bit much.
Parsons also fetched the Cowboys two first-round picks plus Kenny Clark, which is much more in line with a return for a star — even if some questioned it — than giving up a pick and Parsons for a player.

Jones claimed Friday morning that the Jets deal — regardless of which version may have actually been discussed — did not come to fruition since they didn’t have the cap room to pay Parsons.
The polarizing owner eventually got his man at the trade deadline and Williams has helped lead a midseason revival for a team that once seemed dead to rights.

Dallas is 6-5-1 after its third straight win Thursday — all with Williams — a 31-28 win over the reigning AFC champion Chiefs on the heels of a 21-point rally to down the Eagles the previous week.
