CITYWIDE — THE MTA LAUNCHED its holiday lights trains on Friday, with illuminated Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North trains running through New Year’s. The LIRR will debut its first fully lit train, while Metro-North adds a new diesel version to expand the festive fleet across its East-of-Hudson territory. Both railroads will rotate the decorated trains randomly throughout regular service, with holiday-themed safety announcements at select stations.
“It’s a fun thrill for kids, train enthusiasts and adults alike,” LIRR President Rob Free said.
