Mark B. Thompson, 70, died along with his brother, David E. Thompson, 69, of Port Charlotte, Fla., after being shot with a rifle by their brother, Scot D. Thompson, 65, of Englewood, Fla., on Nov. 23, according to New York State Police.

Scot Thompson is charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree criminal use of a firearm, according to a news release.

The GoFundMe was set up to support Mark Thompson’s wife, Gail, for expenses following her husband’s killing.

“Mark was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose loss has devastated our family,” wrote Nicole Thompson, the daughter-in-law of Mark and Gail Thompson, on the GoFundMe page.

As of noon Saturday, more than $6,500 had been raised, with a goal of $20,000, according to the page.

The brothers’ killings remain under investigation.

Investigators determined the three brothers were staying at a hunting cabin when they got into a fight and one of the brothers called 911, police said. Scot Thompson then shot and killed his two brothers with a rifle and left the scene in David Thompson’s vehicle, according to police.

Law enforcement shared the vehicle information, leading to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and Geneseo Police Department finding the vehicle and taking Scot Thompson into custody, police said.Â
