YWCA of Brooklyn Offers 3 Programs for Women in Business

BOERUM HILL — The YWCA of Brooklyn continues to offer programs for women business owners, entrepreneurs and residents in celebration of Women’s History Month in March.

Three upcoming programs are described as follows:

• Non-traditional Employment for Women (NEW) Information Session at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 26, preparing interested women for nontraditional careers in the construction, utilities and transportation industries. Through its innovative training programs, NEW produces graduates who successfully compete for skilled blue-collar careers.

• Screening of new film titled “Mrs. Goundo’s Daughter,” held in conjunction with the NYC Chapter of United Nations Women, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27. This film explores the problems of immigrant working women as well as issues of asylum, international law, human rights and female genital cutting.

• Women’s Initiative Business Action Plan Information Session, a program offered at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 29, offering training, funding information and ongoing support to women who want to start their own businesses and become financially self-sufficient.

All three programs will take place in the community room of the YWCA, 30 Third Ave. in Boerum Hill.
