If the end to a long holiday weekend and murky skies weren’t enough to dampen the mood, major traffic and airport delays in North Jersey were making a mess for driving and flying late Sunday, Nov. 30, as Thanksgiving weekend travelers headed back to New York City, Long Island and New England.
The worst of the traffic problems were the approach to the George Washington Bridge in Bergen County and the tunnels into Manhattan from North Jersey.
Traveling the 9 miles on the New Jersey Turnpike northbound from the American Dream mall to the George Washington Bridge was taking 55 minutes around 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, according to the 511nj.org website.
That was only exacerbated as fans left MetLife Stadium after the New York Jets victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
