Bloomberg News executive editor for national coverage Pierre Paulden sent the following note to staff this morning:
We are delighted to announce that Danielle Moran will be the next New York City Bureau Chief.
Danielle has excelled as Municipal Finance Team leader, covering city and state finances, transit issues and education, including chronicling struggling colleges and the White House’s attempts to reshape the Ivy League. A talented manager with a superb track record of developing reporters, she has routinely led coverage across teams and will be a crucial contributor to the National Team.
Danielle, who hails from New Jersey, started as an analyst in Global Data before making the leap to reporter where she developed an encyclopedic knowledge of local government. She will be well-positioned to lead coverage of Zohran Mamdani’s mayoralty and the effects of federal spending cuts on the region.
Danielle studied government and law as well as history at Lafayette College before earning her master’s degree in journalism at Columbia University. She lives in Manhattan with her husband and dog, Scout. In her spare time, she can be found strolling in Central Park or embarking on home-improvement projects.
She will start Jan. 1 and succeed Katia Porzecanski, who is relocating to London and joining the finance team. Katia has been a force of nature through a highly eventful period and will be sorely missed.
Please join me in thanking Katia and welcoming Danielle,
Pierre
