State Police respond to fatality on the Thruway in Albany

At approximately 6:45 p.m. on December 1, 2025, State Police Troop T responded to a serious personal injury crash involving two passenger vehicles at Exit 24 on the NYS Thruway. Preliminary investigation revealed that Vehicle 1 entered the Thruway from the acceleration ramp, blocking the path of Vehicle 2, which subsequently struck Vehicle 1.  Vehicle 1 contained two adults and three minors. Vehicle 2 contained four adults. The operator of Vehicle 1 was transported to Albany Medical Center and was later pronounced deceased. The remaining adult and the minors in Vehicle 1, as well as the adults in Vehicle 2 were all transported to Albany Medical Center. All I-87 northbound traffic was being diverted off Exit 24. Traffic is now being cleared via the right lane. Troop T, along with Troop G Bureau of Criminal Investigation remain on scene. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
