NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Eight New York City immigration judges have been fired, according to an official with the National Association of Immigration Judges.
The judges all worked at 26 Federal Plaza, the site of many controversial arrests outside immigration courts. They’re among 100 other immigration judges who have been fired since January 20, according to NAIJ.

In a statement to PIX11 News, a spokesperson for the Department of Justice said it is looking for legal professionals to help “protect national security and public safety.”
“After four years of the Biden Administration forcing Immigration Courts to implement a de facto amnesty for hundreds of thousands of aliens, this Department of Justice is restoring integrity to our immigration system,” a spokesperson said.
In October, the department announced two new judge appointments in New York City, Jacob Teichman Addicott and Oren Gleich.
