Fertility leader expands to NYC through Staten Island clinic acquisition

STATEN ISLAND, NY — IVI RMA North America has entered the New York City market through a partnership with Island Reproductive Services, marking the fertility care provider’s first presence in the city.

Island Reproductive Services is the only fertility provider on Staten Island with an on-site laboratory offering comprehensive in vitro fertilization services.

The partnership adds Island Reproductive Services’ two clinics and 29 employees to IVI RMA North America’s network of 25 laboratories and 70 satellite locations across the United States.

Dr. Eric Knochenhauer and Dr. Michael Traub, who founded Island Reproductive Services in 2001, will retain an equity stake in the business and continue treating patients. The practice will continue operating under its existing brand.

Island Reproductive Services offers egg and sperm banking, a full-service third-party reproduction program that includes donor oocytes and embryos, and gestational carrier services. The practice’s main clinic is located 45 minutes from IVI RMA North America’s headquarters in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

Knochenhauer said the partnership will connect Island Reproductive Services to IVI RMA’s research capabilities and laboratory operations expertise. Traub noted that patients will benefit from IVI RMA’s electronic medical records software and access to additional clinical talent.

“We are very proud to enter this new chapter as part of the largest assisted reproductive group in the world,” Traub said.

IVI RMA North America, which comprises Reproductive Medicine Associates, Boston IVF, and Toronto-based TRIO, has helped women and couples achieve pregnancies that have led to the birth of more than 220,000 babies. The organization is part of IVI RMA Global, which operates more than 200 locations in 15 countries.
