Downtown Dallas looked a bit different Tuesday night for the filming of an upcoming Yellowstone spinoff.
New York City taxi cabs and at least one New York Police Department patrol car were spotted driving in downtown as parts of Main and Ervay streets were blocked off for the production. An NYPD car was emblazoned with the words “Courtesy, Protection, Respect” — a slight variation on the department’s former motto (which included “Professionalism” instead of “Protection”) — and a taxi advertised for “NYC Museum Days” in a display on its roof.
The presence of the vehicles made sense, since the shoot was for The Madison, a Yellowstone spinoff from Fort Worth-raised hitmaker Taylor Sheridan that follows a family who moves from New York City to central Montana. The show will star Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox, but it’s unclear how it fits into the Yellowstone universe.

It appears the Tuesday shoot in Dallas was for the second season of The Madison, based on a recent casting call that sought actors to portray New York City taxi drivers. A release date for Season 1 has not been announced.
Tuesday also wasn’t the first time that Sheridan or Paramount+, the streamer behind his shows, has filmed in downtown. Last month, another Yellowstone spinoff, Dutton Ranch, used the KPMG Plaza at Hall Arts for a scene set in downtown Chicago.
